Covington - Volney Marshall Furr, 96, a former resident of 672 W County Road 350 N died at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday Dec 8 in United Samaritan Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He had been hospitalized one day and had been resiiding at the Covington Manor Nusing Center since Oct 10, 1994.
He was born April 10, 1903, in Mill Creek Township Fountain County. He attended school at Steam Corner and lived at Rt 3, Covington from 1928 to 1994.
Mr. Furr farmed in Van Buren Township for many years. He was a member of Farm Burea, Dairy Improvement Association and Fountain County Saddle Club. He liked to raise, ride and show horses. His marriage was to Laura Newman on Sept 5, 1928 in Veedersburg. She preceded him in death Aug 5, 1990. Surviving is a daughter, Nora Ruth Dunavan of Tilton, Ill.
